About Katja Bainbridge
Katja Bainbridge is a photographer and founder based in Norfolk, UK.
She photographs a diverse range of subjects she feels passionate about.
She is the co-owner and co-founder of an award winning Restaurant (Benedicts)
and the co-creator of an award winning Provisions Brand. (Bainbridge Provisions)
Originally from Germany and a trained Nurse, she has lived in Dublin, IRL before settling in North Norfolk, UK in 2007, where she continues to live and work today. During her time in Dublin and later in Norwich, she photographed a variety of subjects using 35mm and medium format film photography. She deepened her knowledge through darkroom work and courses in traditional photographic printing techniques at the Gallery of Photography in Dublin, eventually building her own darkroom to continue exploring the craft. This led to an incredible opportunity to exhibit her prints in an exhibition at the Assembly House, Norwich in 2009.
She has spent the last 10 years photographing digitally with the focus on her businesses, giving her fantastic opportunities that saw her images of food and chefs (mainly her husband ◡̈) published in many newspapers & magazines.
Now honing in again on photographing what floats her boat, her work focuses
on portraits, moments & installations that make her feel something.
Her approach is intuitive and poetic.
